INTERNAL AUDIT & RISK OFFICER POSITION
Reporting to: Chief Risk Officer
Duty station: Nairobi
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for managing business risks at the Group level; ensuring opportunities within the corporate risk framework are proactively leveraged by advising the management on effective levers and mitigation measures.
Assist in conducting and documenting the compliance risk assessments for each function in the business Unit.
Monitor and track relevant operational risk activities including regular review and follow up of functional risk self-assessments at scheduled intervals.
Develop an operational risk database and update compliance periodically to maintain the agreed benchmarks.
Coordinate with the Business Unit Heads and the Departmental Heads in conducting regular risk self-assessments schedules and action plans.
Conduct internal audits from time to time to test effectiveness of controls and systems.
Track and enforce closure of corrective actions arising from internal audits in liaison with the Chief Risk Officer.
To assist in any special assignments and investigations as may be required by the management into any matter or activity affecting operating efficiency.
Minimum qualifications, Experience and Skills
A bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration or their equivalent from a recognized university.
Certified Public Accountant – CPA (K) or equivalent
Certified Information Systems Audit (CISA) and OR Certified Internal Auditor(CIA) qualifications and membership to the respective professional bodies an added advantage
Member of the institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK)
At least five years relevant experience, three (3) of which must be in Internal Audit & Risk management.
Experience in an organization operating within an ERP environment is mandatory.
Experience in Audit in a large organization will be an added advantage.
He/she must have the ability to work in a very fast and high pressure environment and deliver timely results.
